I’ll take you on my time machine
to a time you might remember.
2010…then 2009,
We’ll stop right here, on the 14th of September.

I wait outside in the icy hands of mother nature.
I count the minutes,
I count the seconds
seeing you nice and warm, inside, & safe from danger.

But the wind told me to be free,
And I only turned away with greed.

So I count the minutes,
I count the seconds
waiting until you come outside to rescue me.
I believed.

I counted the minutes,
And I counted the seconds
Until my body rested on the cold, heartless ground
and drifted off into an eternal sleep that set me free.
